VAM ACE is a T&C gas-tight connection specifically designed for severe applications and has been field proven for more than 20 years in the most demanding environments throughout the world.

BENEFITS

  • Excellent gas-tight sealing under high tensile loads
  • Internal flushness allowing maximum production flow
  • Easy to run and repair

Metal-to-Metal Seal

  • The VAM ACE metal-to-metal seal takes advantage of the "VAM effect" design which has made the reputation of the VAM joint throughout the world.
  • The low taper seal (10% taper) provides gas tightness under high tension loads, such as heavy string weight in deep wells.
    Sizes range from 2 3/8" to 13 3/8"

Reverse Angle Torque Shoulder

  • The reverse angle torque shoulder provides a positive torque stop, which allows an accurate power tight position minimizing hoop stresses in the connection.
  • The wedge effect caused by the reverse angle gives the connection superior structural strength.

Hook Thread Design

  • A 3° reverse angle on the load flank provides superior tension strength.
  • 4 TPI on large O.D. eliminates the risk of cross-threading.
  • Combined with the reverse angle torque shoulder the 3° load flank creates a "wedge effect" which improve the structural strength of the connection.

Coupling Design

  • Critical cross section of the coupling is greater than that of the pipe body.
  • Optimized internal counter bore length to allow good make-up stress distribution.
  • Internal I.D. of the coupling matching the internal I.D. of nominal weight pipe.

Streamlined Internal profile

  • The taper of the internal bore in the pipe end is limited to only 6° for a flush junction with the coupling counter bore to minimize turbulence and pressure loss.

Options

  • VAM ACE SC90 / VAM ACE SC80 (Special Clearance): offer 90% and 80% tensile efficiency respectively with reduced coupling O.D. when extra clearance is requested.
  • VAM ACE SB (Special Bevel): coupling face has a 20° bevel to avoid hang-ups while running multiple string completions.
